What percentage of the Web should We be available to, and why?

When I first went on the web in about 1994 all the sites I would find were Universities & Government bodies with heaps of information on subjects that would have taken years to find in libraries. You now didnt have to have your own camera to take photos because there was this endless stream of photos available on all the links. It was fun to go searching for new things.

Back in 1995 business had got into webs and was pushing a very plain page with heaps of reading to do. I was not a reading person. I preferred to be out and about either in nature or just keeping life as active as possible. I was thrilled when I went to a 14 year old Malaysian boys site. There was music, colour, non boredom. I get easily bored by business trying to take over everyones psyche and bring everyone to their mundane advertising of themselves for profit and greed.

It gets hard when you realise there is only two types of culture, sustainable – that is the use of all things without greed, and gives the natural part of our existence time to actually repair, and what most of the world is today – riding on the back of the money machine that relies on the total abuse of all the so called resources, and keep on BLINDLY saying that there is plenty.
I then wonder who is really the visually impaired?

It is not the amount of resources that make us a better culture, but our attitudes to all that is.

Visually Impaired Users – How To Help Them

People with visual difficulties:

• May be colour blind.
• May be completely blind or partially sighted.
• May suffer from disabilities preventing them from reading or comprehending text properly (for example dyslexia).
• May not be able to read small text – a large segment of the population could be affected.

All of these are issues that we as Web designers must face if we are determined to reach all of the possible users of the web.

NB. Due to the nature of this site and the ability for the visually impaired to actually view pictures I have declined to add any to this blog.

How To Add Rss Feed to WordPress Blog  Here is something useful for adding RSS Feeds to WordPress Blogs. Our Web class had a task to make user documents to help in the use of blogs. My task was to make user documents for adding RSS Feed. Other links will be added soon to link to the other students user documents.

Bilderberg Group versus The Rest

To be honest I owe the American Public an apology for thinking that you guys had actually agreed to the submission of our Planet by these less mentally healthy persons in the Bilderberg Group. To me it is some people that have lost the plot and followed past examples like hitler etc to go on a uncontrolled rampage or conquest to control the planet. Each time someone tries to control, they seem to add yet another way for themselves to appear to be innocent of any impropriety. I was rather stimulated by Alex Jones articles, but also sad that they (the Bilderberg Group) had so much lack of any humanitarian nature at all. The old scriptures were and are still true. We will either worship money or worship God. Who is God. Everything and everyone that has a well meaning motive for all that be.

Web Design for Disabilities – Who cares

When we are plagued by the never ending surmise that ‘time is money’, then maybe those that think time is money won’t be able to appreciate the term “What you give is what you get”. How much care will you get when you need it? When those of our ‘world family’ aren’t cared for, then how can they really use the term ‘World Wide Web’. I thought ‘World Wide’ meant World Wide.

It might be hard to have to re-evaluate how to design your web site to be able to be used by persons not fully able to have common useability, but when you see, to be fair to all individuals of our human family, it is not a must, but should be a natural event.
In England it is against discrimination laws to not have your site useable to certain types of disabilities. I think it is a pity that Laws are needed to make us aware of what we are not aware of. It would be a beautiful World if we didn’t need to be told that we should care, and can.

I have been looking through different sites and found that for visually disabled there is a whole list ranging from colour blindness to diseases of the eyes, blood disorders causing problems, diets, pollution, hereditary etc, all showing the need for special needs. The main things I will be dealing with will be
• More visual text.
• Better layout for ease of viewing.
• Some recorded text to playback.
• Easy colour themes for the eyes.
